Mire Habitat Restoration under LIFE Mires Estonia

The LIFE Mires Estonia project restored natural water conditions across six Natura 2000 mire sites—covering nearly 8,000 hectares—by closing a 317-kilometre drainage ditch network and constructing around 2,500 dams. It was the winner of the 2024 European Natura 2000 Award (Conservation on Land category).
